About Us

Jerry and Brenda Mercer

Jerry and Brenda [Batten] Mercer are both members of long established families in the Town of Bay Roberts, NL Canada. Because of their ties to the community, they purchased the Victoria Loyal Orange Lodge #3 in 2008.

Museum

They have made a tremendous contribution to the town by restoring the building and displaying its contents and by adding many other pieces of historic interest from the Conception Bay North Area.

David French

They also have personally contacted acclaimed Canadian playwright David French, who was born in Coley's Point. With the assistance of Mr .French, who has graciously presented them with a number of photos and artifacts from his life and his distinguished career, they have established a display about his life, career and works.

Playhouse

They have designed an area for a playhouse in the building. In this area, they will be producing David French's plays along with other plays of interest. One of the main purposes of the Playhouse is to help young people become involved in theatre arts.

Rusty

In addition, they have purchased a mare, Rusty, and a heritage carriage. They are offering Heritage Carriage Rides.

Their Purpose

They want to make the community a better place to live and to offer events for tourists.

Their other business in town is:

Batten's Ultramar Service Station & Convenience Store Con Bay Hwy Tel: & Fax: 786-1536.
